Finding The Right Babysitter
Finding the right babysitter can be quite tricky. Many parents report that they have to go through a few if not many babysitters before they hit on one who really clicks with their kids. The babysitter who you choose to watch over your children should be one who you trust implicitly; one who you know will keep your children free from harm and one who your children like.
There are good babysitters and great babysitters. Those who are great have all of the above characteristics and enjoy babysitting kids. Those who are good also have the above characteristics but may be in it for more of the money factor than the fact that they like kids. Those who do not have the above characteristics have no place in your home or theirs as a babysitter.
When you are finding the right babysitter, you naturally want to find one who you can trust. There should be nothing that strikes you as odd about the person that makes you feel uncomfortable. Trust your instincts and be sure to get some references about this person from those who know them and can vouch for their behaviour.
The babysitter should understand about safety and how to keep the children safe. You do not want them allowing the children to play unsupervised or not understand what to do in case of some sort of accident, fire or other disaster. You can quiz the babysitter about safety issues. You should feel comfortable when leaving your children with the babysitter that they will not come to harm.
Your children should like the babysitter. They should not be afraid of the babysitter or have an intense dislike of the babysitter. This can be a red flag. Finding the right babysitter means finding one who will make both you and your children happy and feel safe.
